Lavender Hill Farm
(welcomes kids)
Only 10 minutes (5 miles) to GreenWay and downtown Lexington
Highly recommended
Innkeepers: Sarah and John Burleson
1374 Big Spring Drive, Lexington, VA 24450
540-464-5877 or 800-446-4240
Join your hosts John and Sarah Burleson as they take you for a tour of their 20 acre country farm bed and breakfast located just five miles from historic Lexington. Along with their Border Collie Jess and their cat Ocho you may visit with the sheep, chickens, and donkeys on the farm, fish in the stream below the farm, birdwatch the woods and pasture (see our bird list) or just relax on the front porch with a drink and enjoy the sounds of nature. You can roam freely over the hilly and rocky farm. From one craggy hill you can see both the Blue Ridge and the Allegheny Mountains. Also have lamb sales.
According to Virginia Business Magazine: "Lavender Hill Farm is one of the few places in Virginia where people can wallow in farm life for a few days. The farm is an example of something called “agri-tourism,” a category that also includes “pick your own” orchards, winery tours and farms that offer pumpkin patches and hay rides in the fall.
Children welcome!

Magnolia House
(Great location close to downtown Lexington)
501 South Main Street Lexington, Virginia 24450

Telephone: (540) 463-2567 Fax:(540) 463-4358
Built in 1868 by Master Builder William Pole, Magnolia House is comfortably elegant in the classic Shenandoah Style. With its high ceilings, spacious rooms, and fireplaces many guests are reminded of childhood visits to "Grandmother's House". Indeed, sitting on the front porch surrounded by our Victorian cottage garden, dogwoods, azaleas, and a magnificent Magnolia tree over a century old, you might easily feel yourself back in an earlier more comfortable time. It almost seems as if Robert E. Lee might pass by as he did many afternoons riding Traveler to his favorite spot to view the surrounding Blue Ridge and Alleghenies.
And yet, located in the heart of Lexington's Historic District it is only a few blocks from downtown, an easy walk to restaurants, museums and shops, and to Washington and Lee or V.M.I.
